I was given a really crappy candle last Christmas, and I justed started using it. It's one of those big, festive candles that is two inches in diameter. The problem is, the candle wick won't stay lit and it gets drown with wax. Here's an easy way to repair a crappy candle.
What you'll need:
Take one sheet of toilet paper, and fold it in half twice so you have a perfect square. Then roll it up very tight like you might roll up a cigarette. Once you've done that, twist both ends. This is your new candle wick.
Take your knife and carefully dig a hole around the old candle wick. If you like you can completly remove the old wick. Try and dig the hole as deep as possible.
Take your new candle wick and stick it down into the hole. If there's excess toilet paper, just cut it off with a pair of scissors. Pack candle wax back into the hole so the new wick stays tightly in place. Light the toilet paper, and you now have a brand new candle wick that won't go out.
As an added bonus, the new candle wick makes a much bigger flame. :) If this is not to your liking, you can always make the toilet paper wick a little smaller.
